Pamela Lowell

It's snowing here in Rhode Island this morning. The good news is that most of our snow will melt by noon. But once in a while we get enough to sled (or slide as my husband says--he grew up in Maine). I figured out why I like the show Heroes--it is about a teen who was adopted!!! (At least one of the characters is, our favorite....save the cheerleader...save the world. The newest news? My book was nominated for the Cybils and for Quick Picks by the American Library Association...so that is all very cool, since I have never won anything in my entire life (or even been nominated). Ok, maybe a lottery ticket for a dollar. I will be traveling to PA this weekend for a booksigning--some of my old friends and colleagues promise me they will come...hurray! Since most book signings can be pretty disappointing, boring and dismal, unless you are famous, which I am decidedly NOT. Anyway, it will be great to see all my old buds. My nieces found my book in their library in Camden High School...oh, istn' that so much fun? And my son was in the library of his school the day they were putting it out on the display. Okay, enough about the book already! Yes, I am boring and it really is all I can talk about. Aren't you glad you can just zap out of this blog and don't have to live with me?

What did I tell you? Friday Night Lights just keeps getting better and better! The dialogue is very strong and clever. I'm also enjoying The Wire (on HBO). The teens are portrayed in a very realistic way...so scary to think about the lives some of them lead. Don't forget to check out the contest on my website www.pamelalowell.com --you could win a Tiffany necklace like the one my main character, Ronnie, steals from the most popular girl in school. See all of you locals at my book signing this Saturday. Barrington Books 2-4pm!

I really like the show Friday Night Lights. I think because it's sort of edgy without being predictable. The teens are interesting (so far) and the coach and his wife have a real relationship...funny, frustrating, harried. Like many other families I know. Heroes I'm not liking so much. It feels like another one of those shows that is never going to have an ending--which I hate--but my son likes it, so we watch it together. Oh, and Flav. I'm sorry, but I did enjoy watching the Flav. And his nicknames for the ladies. One of my friend's daughters had a Flav party on the last show of the season. They had Flav food, and wore Flav watches around their necks. The show really is pure trash, but somehow hilarious. What are you watching now?

October 20, 2006

Hey! I decided to get a blog "spot" instead of blogging onto my website. Why? Because I saw another young adult author had one, and I was jealous. NOT REALLY. We'll see how it all works out. Bye for now.
